Northside Hospital honors and celebrates 30 years of Internal Medicine Service (IMS) – founded by Dr. Rodriguez in 1995

 On July 16, 2025, IMS Coordinator- Trinita Ervin, VP of Legal Risk Management- Susan Sommers and Founder of IMS- David F. Rodriguez, MD, celebrated the program and honored the inaugural five Physicians. 

Wayne Chiu, MD has been the Director of the IMS program since its inception, providing unwavering leadership and support for his team. The program has grown from five physicians to over 50 over the last 30 years.

Rafael Santana, MD is a tireless, caring physician with exemplary character. He is always willing to pitch in and help whenever the need arises.

Valda Gibson, MD has used her knowledge and expertise to impact countless lives. Her calm demeanor provides reassurance and professionalism.

Mark Nemeroff, MD was honored posthumously for his countless contributions to Northside Hospital IMS. As a member of the inaugural five physician group, he would be proud of the formable impact the program continues to provide.

Joi Jackson, MD represented the icing on the cake for the nucleus of the program. She continues to provide the proper balance of toughness and empathy.

Trinita Irving is the Coordinator of the IMS program and has provided top-notch leadership, direction, and organization that has allowed the program to thrive. As the recipient of the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber 2018 Woman of Distinction Award , she continues to be the right person, at the right place, at the right time.
